I’d like to see information on trails for ATV riding. Thank you.

Thanks much, Tamie. You’re right; we don’t have a lot on the subject here, but the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has a lot of info about public trails open to ATVs (all-terrain vehicles) or OHVs (off-highway vehicles) here:
http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/ohv/index.html
Other visitors to this web site are welcome to offer suggestions here as well.

I sure miss the old Explore Minnesota quarterly magazine. I would find some place to visit nearly every weekend in the calendar of events. My exploring has become nearly non-existent.

Larry,
Perhaps you’re thinking of the Minnesota Explorer travel newspaper. It comes out three times a year, and includes a seasonal calendar of events. You can order it here:

You can also search for upcoming events on our web site here:

why are you sending out a fishing report from January 23rd – when the actual date is April 10th!! If you don’t have a current report I would rather have none at all than one that is over 2 months old!

Chuck,
We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced in receiving duplicate e-newsletters from Explore Minnesota Tourism recently. We made some edits to incorrect formatting on those reports. In doing so our software, Feedburner, resent these edited newsletters. In the future we will be more careful about editing and resending previous versions of newsletters.
Thank you for your patience.

A Special Place
By Randi
When God brought all the forces together and the earth came into being, He made a very special place that is truly worth seeing.
A place where native peoples came and made a home then passed it on to those who came after. Where they still have a presence and you can hear their laughter.
Where they beat grasses over the side of a canoe made of wood to harvest wild rice that has an earthy flavor that tastes so good.
He gave it crystal clear lakes in great number,
And surrounded them with lush green forests full of wonder.
Where rolling hills and rich green valleys abound,
With prairies stretching out for miles where the buffalo and the antelope can be found.
He gave it two great rivers that come together in time to carry its people and water its land. And in the north country he placed a boundary, where silence may be the only sound and where water laps gently on the sand.
And a great lake that’s Superior where ships sail to sea and are soon out of sight. Where a lighthouse gives out its warning call and flashes forth its light.
A place where one season flows into the next – from winter that turns the land a brilliant white to spring that comes just in time with warm gentle breezes and flowers bursting forth so bright followed by summer where the days are hot and the nights are warm and the outdoors is your favorite room under the moonlight, to leaves that blaze brilliant golds and reds in the fall to make a spectacular sight.
It’s a place of wonder and beauty, winding rivers and clear lakes, rolling hills and lush valleys, birch trees with incredible white trunks that stand so tall, and loons that send out their eerie plaintiff call across lakes large and small.
And the native peoples called this land Minnesota, which says it all.
