Nickelodeon Universe amusement park
The newly revamped indoor amusement park in the center of Mall of America became Nickelodeon Universe on March 15, 2008, with several new rides and characters from Nickelodeon’s popular television shows. It’s the first themed park for Nickelodeon, one of the country’s top kids’ entertainment brands, whose cartoon characters include SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer and Jimmy Neutron.
New rides include the Avatar Airbender, a rotating half-pipe roller coaster; the Nickelodeon Splat-o-Sphere, a 60-foot spring tower; the SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge, a high-speed looping roller coaster; and the Rugrats Reptarmobiles, bumper cars for little kids. Many of the previous rides remain, including the popular Log Flume. Costumed Nickelodeon characters will be on hand to meet and greet their young fans.
Mall of America is located at I-494 and Hwy. 77 in Bloomington, on the south side of the Twin Cities area. For more info, go to www.nickelodeonuniverse.com.
